Mainstream Media Propaganda, from Khalidi Tape to ‘Nut Job

nyt-640x480

Friday’s supposed “bombshell” stories follow the same pattern. The Times reports that Trump told the visiting Russians that former FBI director James Comey was a “nut job,” and that firing him had eased “pressure” in his ability to conduct foreign policy — though the Times takes Trump to mean the legal pressure of the investigation. (That spin makes no sense: firing Comey created more pressure, which was so obvious the Russians joked about it.)

The Times describes its source as “a document summarizing the meeting” that was “circulated” (it does not say by whom). The Times does not have the document. An “American official” simply “read quotations” to the Times.

The Post‘s story, which reports that the probe into potential ties between Russia and the Trump campaign has reached “someone close to the president,” cites “people familiar with the matter.” That does not prove the story is untrue, but the sources are so flimsy that there is no way to have confidence in what the Post calls its “revelation.”

Earlier this week, the Post reported that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told a meeting of fellow House Republican leaders: “I think Putin pays [Trump].” According to those present, the remark was a joke. The Post‘s source was an audio recording of the conversation which it did not have in its actual possession, and which it refuses to share with the public so that people can judge for themselves. The Post did publish a transcript, which it does not appear to have produced itself. The transcript actually supports the claim that McCarthy was joking. The Post‘s reporter has insisted that McCarthy meant his remark to be taken seriously, but refuses to provide the audio.

And the day before that, the Times published the now-infamous story that Trump had “asked” Comey to end the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. The source was purportedly a memorandum that Comey wrote about his recollection of a conversation with Trump. But the Times did not share the memo, and never even saw the document. It merely relied on a Comey “associate” who “read parts of it to a Times reporter.”

These four stories, taken together, are said by the mainstream media to build a powerful case that Trump committed obstruction of justice and may soon face impeachment. But every piece of evidence could be made up or distorted, and there would be no way to know. In the “nut job” case, the White House has not disputed that Trump made the comment, but it may not be able to explain the context, because doing so would mean releasing more details of a classified conversation that touched on “highly classified” national security matters (as the Post reported on Monday.)

In their effort to impugn Trump, the Times and the Post violate the most basic journalistic standards. Publishing parts of a document that you do not possess and cannot verify, and timing the release to cause maximum political damage (right after the president leaves the country), is not investigative journalism. It is political propaganda.

It is the mirror image of what the Los Angeles Times did in April 2008, when it published a story referring to a speech then-State Senator Barack Obama gave at a farewell celebration for radical Palestinian-American academic Rashid Khalidi in 2003. The Times was given a video of the speech, but refused to publish the video. Instead, it offered a mere summary, raising suspicions that the Times had sanitized the event to protect Obama’s presidential campaign.

The pattern is the same, from the Khalidi tape to the “nut job” story. For the elite mainstream media, when it comes to protecting Democrats or attacking Republicans, there are no journalistic standards, no ethics, and no shame.

The bombshell new polling data, from American Research Group (ARG), show Trump’s 42 percent towering over Cruz’s 32 percent in the Badger State. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, for whom it is already mathematically impossible to win the nomination outright before the GOP convention in Cleveland in July, lurks back at 23 percent.

The poll surveyed 400 likely voters and has a five percent margin of error. It was conducted from April 1 to April 3. 54 percent of likely GOP primary voters polled in Wisconsin were men, 46 percent were women.

Thousands Pledge to Get Arrested in D.C. Protests Next Month

occupyarrest1-640x480

Those protesters signed an option on the coalition’s website explicitly stating, “I pledge to be one among thousands who will risk arrest to save democracy in DC between April 11 – 16.”

Other pledge options for protests include:

  • *I pledge to come to Washington DC to support the sit in through legal protest but cannot risk arrest.
  • *I want to join the march from Philadelphia to Washington DC, sometime between April 2 – 11.
  • *I want to volunteer to help organize this campaign.

Kai Newkirk, Democracy Spring’s campaign director, explained that his team called each of the 2,912 protesters pledging to risk arrest and spent about twenty minutes on the phone expounding on the movement’s goals as well as helping to coordinate travel and logistics.

“People are coming from Montana, Seattle, and other states around the country,” Newkirk told Breitbart News in a phone interview. “They are driving, taking buses, flying, because there are so many people from across the political spectrum that are just tired of the status quo of a democracy that works for the super rich and not for the everyday American. They want to take this stand to say enough.”

Newkirk said he is “confident” that “if Congress doesn’t respond to our demands and they would rather send people to jail, then it will be the largest civil disobedience of the century.”

The chairman of Smartmatic’s board, Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, currently serves on the board of George Soros’s Open Society Foundation and has close ties to the billionaire.

The Wall Street Journal dubbed the Republican party’s online adventure on Tuesday as “one of the biggest online votes conducted so far in the U.S.” and the “largest experiment with online presidential voting since 2004, when Michigan allowed Democrats to vote in a party caucus via the Internet.”

Utah residents will have the option of casting ballots in the Republican presidential contest using computers, tablets, and smartphones next week. …

Online “polls” will be open between 7:00 a.m. and 11 p.m. on March 22. Voters will get a receipt that will verify that their vote was recorded correctly. The state party declined to release the number of online voter registrations that it has received. …

“We expect all the jurisdictions across the U.S. to take notice and to look at this experience as something to study and, hopefully, follow,” said Antonio Mugica, founder and chief executive of Smartmatic Group, an election-equipment vendor that is running the Utah election.

Donald Trump Urges Pause in LEGAL Immigration For One or Two Years

GettyImages-514695322-640x480

The call may shift the nation’s immigration debate away the emotional — but subsidiary — issue of illegal immigration.

“I’d say a minimum of one year, maybe two years,” Trump said during the debate in Miami, Fla.

“It is very significant that a major presidential candidate has called for a pause in legal immigration,” said Mark Krikorian, the director of the Center for Immigration Studies. “It’s a signal that he’s serious about dealing with high [rates of legal] immigration,” he said.

Legal immigration was sharply cut in 1924 amid political pressure from voters. But it restarted in 1965 during the height of the post-war economic boom when wages were rising, crime was lower and wealth was spread much more evenly.

Currently, the federal government allows 1 million foreign wage-cutting migrants to enter the United States each year, even though 4 million young Americans enter the weak job market each year.

The current population of illegals is roughly 14 million, and rising. But the population of legal immigrants and their children is roughly 45 million, according to a CIS study

Before Trump’s call for a pause, the 2015 and 2016 immigration debate has been focused on the much smaller issue of illegal immigration, which adds a few hundred thousand workers a year to the current population of roughly 14 million illegal migrants.

According to the State Department’s Refugee Processing Center, since December 2 the Obama administration has admitted one Syrian refugee identified as a “Christian,” one identified as a “Greek Orthodox,” and one identified as “Orthodox.” Another 461 Syrian refugees admitted in that timeframe were “Moslem Suni,” three were “Moslem Shiite,” ten were “Moslem,” and one identified as “other religion.”

The Obama administration has said it wants to resettle at least 10,000 Syrian refugees in the U.S. this fiscal year, despite the national security concerns of Republicans who fear terrorists might try to infiltrate the refugee flow and vetting vulnerabilities voiced by top security officials.

Monday, the Washington Examiner reported that the White House is looking to further expand the number of Syrian refugees it admits.

“We want to make sure that we can increase our numbers of refugees that are able to settle here,” Felicia Escobar, Obama’s special assistant for immigration policy, said Mondayaccording to the Washington Examiner. “The need globally is so, so, so massive right now, given all the displacement and conflict around the world, but we also know that we have to do it in a way that’s smart.”

Half a Million Fewer Native-Born Americans Had Jobs in January

unemployment-Getty-640x480

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 123,710,000 native-born Americans (ages 16 and over) were employed during the month of January, 567,000 Americans fewer than the month of December.

The number of unemployed native-born Americans increased by 669,000 reaching 6,956,000 people in January and the number of naive-born people out of the labor force increased by 69,000, hitting 80,704,000.

Native-born Americans had an unemployment rate of 5.3 percent and a labor force participation rate of 61.8 percent.

Meanwhile the foreign-born population also saw a decrease in its employment level, though not as dramatic as the native-born population. During the month of January the number of foreign-born people in the U.S. with a job declined by 98,000 to hit 25,328,000. January was the fourth month in a row that the foreign-born population with a job exceed 25 million.

Gov’t report: Budget deficit to rise to $544B this year

Screen shot 2012-10-25 at 7.42.19 PM

A government report released Tuesday estimates that this year’s budget deficit will rise to $544 billion, an increase over prior estimates that can be attributed largely to tax cuts and spending increases passed by Congress last month. The deficit and debt picture over the long-term has also worsened considerably.

The estimate from the Congressional Budget Office also sees the economy growing at a slower pace this year than it predicted just a few months ago. It projects the economic growth will slow to 2.7 percent this year; it foresaw 3.0 percent growth in 2016 in last summer’s prediction.

THE PROOF IS IN: THE US GOVERNMENT IS THE MOST COMPLETE CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION IN HUMAN HISTORY

congress-whitehouse

Washington asserts the power of US courts over foreign nationals and claims extra-territorial jurisdiction of US courts over foreign activities of which Washington or American interest groups disapprove. Perhaps the worst results of Washington’s disregard for the sovereignty of countries is the power Washington has exercised over foreign nationals solely on the basis of terrorism charges devoid of any evidence.

Consider a few examples. Washington first forced the Swiss government to violate its own banking laws. Then Washington forced Switzerland to repeal its bank secrecy laws. Allegedly, Switzerland is a democracy, but the country’s laws are determined in Washington by people not elected by the Swiss to represent them.
