DOZENS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS TRIGGERED AFTER ‘TRUMP 2016’ WRITTEN IN CHALK

Jim Wagner, the president of the university, said Tuesday he had spoken with some 40 to 50 students after they claimed they were triggered by the words “Trump 2016” and other pro-Trump messages written in chalk on buildings and sidewalks around campus.

The students said they were threatened by the “intimidating” messages, and voiced “genuine concern and pain” regarding the messages, reports the Associated Press.

The college news site The Tab published several photos of “the chalking.”

N. Korea arrests US student for ‘hostile act

A US university student has been arrested in North Korea for “perpetrating a hostile act against the DPRK,” according to Pyongyang’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

 

University of Virginia student Otto Warmbier is accused of entering North Korea under the “guise of a tourist” with intentions to bring down the foundations of the country at the “tacit connivance of the US government and under its manipulation”, according to the state news agency.

Most acts of terrorism in America are committed by white men who are “religiously motivated and politically conservative,” a psychology professor recently taught his students, adding that “9/11 is basically the only act of foreign-born terrorism that has ever happened in the United States.”

The “Introduction to Psychology” lesson was given by Dr. Ross Avilla, a lecturer at the University of California-Merced, who backed up his argument by telling his class about a white Christian man who shot up the Texas statehouse with an AK-47 – an incident which in fact never took place.

The incident occurred yesterday during a protest against, “a lack of support from the Claremont McKenna College administration for students of color and others with marginalized identities.”

After numerous other students spoke about nebulous examples of racial discrimination, while refusing to allow white people to speak or (initially) use the megaphone, an Asian woman stepped forward to relate how she was an actual victim of racism.

Fairfield Schoolchildren Safe; Search On For Those Who Called In Threats

Seventeen schools in Fairfield were locked down for several hours Friday morning after threats were phoned in to three schools.

Police were able to determine quickly that there were no real threats, and the lockdown was relaxed before noon, but because of the disruption to the school day officials dismissed students early and canceled all after-school activities.

Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara said at a late morning briefing that all schoolchildren in Fairfield were safe.

The threats phoned into the schools came about 30 minutes after a man called police to say he had killed people, taken hostages, had a bomb, and was going to kill more people, police said. In response to the call, police went to a Black Rock Turnpike and found that the address they’d been given did not exist. Police said they believe it was a hoax emergency call, or swatting incident.

 As police were dealing with that, threats were phoned in to three schools. Two involved bombs, and in one call, a man said he was approaching an elementary school with an M16 rifle, the Hartford Courant reports. It adds that nearly 10,000 students go to Fairfield public schools.

BAND STUDENTS SUSPENDED OVER ‘RACIST’ FRUIT BASKET GIFT

 The students, however, say there was nothing racist about their gift, and insist they never even considered racial motivations.

“We didn’t do anything wrong,” one flutist told KTRK. “We wouldn’t do that because we know better than that. Our parents raised us better.”

Another student, senior Alyssa Taylor, says she doesn’t believe the allegations.

“I’m mixed (race). I don’t take offense to that. How can someone else take offense?” Taylor said.

UCSD says term ‘minorities’ is offensive, tells students to say ‘people of color’

The submission generated a firestorm of outrage, eliciting comments pointing out that “not all ‘minorities’ are so because of their ethnicity” (handicapped and LGBTQ individuals, for instance), and that not all ethnic minorities are easily distinguishable by their skin color (notably Hispanics).

One of the most prevalent sentiments, expressed primarily by individuals describing themselves as light-skinned Hispanics, is that the poster’s advice exacerbates the difficulties they face in being accepted as a minority.

“White is a skin color, not a race,” one individual noted, adding that the two are not mutually exclusive. “I am also a white Hispanic who is met with disbelief (and outright told ‘no you’re not, you don’t look Mexican’) when I tell people I am Mexican.”

In three text bubbles arranged to evoke the image of a traffic signal, the poster instructs viewers to “stop saying minorities,” explaining that “This term diminishes the voices of people of color by assuming a predominantly white, middle-class majority,” and recommends that they “say instead people of color.”
