Ted Cruz gives lame apology for ‘New York values’ comments — then slams Gov. Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio

He also apologized to New York law enforcement and first responders who he said de Blasio doesn’t stand with and instead “stands with looters and criminals.”

The mayor fired back earlier, labeling Cruz as a hypocrite who had no trouble soliciting campaign funds from New Yorkers in his run for the White House. Cruz also accepted a $1 million low-interest loan from Goldman Sachs, the Wall Street fiancial giant based in New York since 1869, to help finance his 2012 run for the Senate.

On Friday, the Daily News stood up for the all New Yorkers by urging the trash-talking politician to “go back to Canada,” on its front page.

De Blasio to Biden: Don’t Bother Running

 New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has yet to endorse Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, but he says he does not encourage Vice President Joe Biden to make a 2016 run.

“Joe Biden is a great human being,” de Blasio said in a television interview with NY1’s Errol Louis on Thursday night. “I think he’s done extraordinary things for this nation.”

Man charged after member of de Blasio’s security team is shot with BB

 The teenage terror who shot a member of Mayor de Blasio’s security detail with an air gun claimed he was just goofing around and thought the safety was on, law-enforcement sources said.

De Blasio Security Team Member Shot With BB Gun, Two In Custody

 A police officer assigned to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s security detail was shot with either a BB or pellet gun last night near Gracie Mansion. Two teens were taken into custody for question.

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m., explaining that the female officer was “was struck in the back by an apparent BB/pellet… There have been two previous reports of apparent BB/ pellets causing damage to windows in this same area. The Mayor was not in the area of Gracie Mansion at the time of this incident.”

De Blasio’s allies getting progressively ticked off

I am increasingly concerned that New York’s mayor may be losing touch with the normally genial, coalition-building side of his persona. It would be all right if this just meant that the rookie mayor was simply losing a few of his Democratic friends. But his behavior of late could cost the city in the future.

Probably the most perplexing relationship of all is de Blasio’s fraying ties to his one-time political mentors, Bill and Hillary Clinton. On the day that the former New York senator announced her 2016 presidential candidacy, her former campaign manager rained on her parade by proclaiming he wasn’t ready to endorse her. Since then he has doubled down on this stance and has even praised Hillary’s new nemesis, Bernie Sanders.

Health teams sent to test NYC for bacterial outbreak that’s killed 10

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio scheduled an afternoon news conference to discuss the outbreak, the worst in New York City’s history.

Public health officials say the spread of the illness appears to be slowing down after they ordered building owners Thursday to disinfect their cooling systems. The state is also offering free testing for building owners with cooling towers or evaporative coolers, which are sometimes called “swamp coolers.”
