Donald Trump is planning a Memorial Day weekend visit with one of his favorite constituencies: bikers.

As motorcyclists stream into the nation’s capital for Rolling Thunder, their largest annual gathering, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is planning an appearance on Sunday, campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said.

“I am doing it in honor of the great bikers who have been totally supportive of my campaign and now I want to be supportive of them,” Trump said in a statement to Bloomberg Politics. “I look forward to it!”

The bike rally, called the “First Amendment Demonstration Run,” begins at noon Eastern time on Sunday, starting at the North Pentagon parking lot and circling the National Mall.

At Trump rallies, motorcycle enthusiasts frequently line the entrances to show their support as protesters do the opposite just steps away. A central part of his appeal to them: a shared belief that self-interested politicians are degrading the military, ignoring veterans and running “a sad government,” as a letter about this weekend’s ride published in December by Rolling Thunder organizers said.

FORMER U.S. DIPLOMATS DECRY THE U.S.-BACKED SAUDI WAR IN YEMEN

The United States has forcefully backed the Saudi-led war. In addition tosharing intelligence, the U.S. has sold tens of billions of dollars in munitionsto the Saudis since the war began. The kingdom has used U.S.-produced aircraft, laser-guided bombs, and internationally-banned cluster bombs to target and destroy schools, markets, power plants, and a hospital, resulting in thousands of civilian deaths.

Despite all that, U.S. officials have done little to explain this support, have failed to explain the U.S. interests in the campaign, and have made scant mention of the humanitarian toll. In the absence of an official response, The Intercept raised those concerns with half a dozen former senior diplomatic officials, including U.S. ambassadors to Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

CRUZ LOSING SUPPORT OF FELLOW REPUBLICANS

Proof that Ted Cruz is very much disliked among Republicans was demonstrated over the Planned Parenthood issue. Cruz is being ignored in Congress. On Monday night, Republicans ignored Cruz’s attempt to disrupt Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s efforts to fund the government without attacking Planned Parenthood. This incident demonstrates that Cruz would not have the support of his party if president. It was highly unusual, but the Republicans denied him a “sufficient second” that would have allowed him a roll call vote. Then, Cruz’s Republican colleagues loudly responded “no” when Cruz sought a voice vote. Twice, the Republicans showed how little support Cruz actually has and his religious agenda would only alienate the Party. Talk on the Hill, actually began to swing toward Trump. Some are now saying that if Trump has the “majority” of delegates say 1100 but shy of the requirement, he should be nominated. This is a real turn of events to put it mildly.

TRUMP NEARS 50 PERCENT NATIONALLY

The billionaire businessman took 48 percent of Republican-leaning voters in a new NBC News/SurveyMonkey online tracking poll released Tuesday. That gives Trump a 21 point lead over Ted Cruz, who won 27 percent.

Kasich moved up two points over the last week, and won 18 percent, and another 7 percent said they didn’t know who to support.

More than half of those polled, 58 percent, said they are “absolutely certain” they will vote for the candidate they selected in their state’s primary or caucus in the general election. Another 57 percent believe that Trump should win the nomination should he win a plurality of delegates, even if he fails to capture the majority needed to officially be the GOP nominee.

Poll says marijuana legalization support nears 60%

 More Americans than ever are smoking, eating and drinking marijuana, and they now overwhelmingly support full legalization of the long-banned plant, a new study and poll show.

A Gallup poll released Wednesday shows 58% of American adults think marijuana should be legal, up from 51% a year ago, with just 40% believing it should remain illegal.

And the number of adults who said they’ve used marijuana sometime in the past year has doubled in the past decade, with 9.5% of adults in 2013 saying they’d used marijuana sometime in the past year, compared to 4.1% in 2001. Notable increases came among women, African-Americans, the middle-aged, and those living in the South, the study published in JAMA Psychiatry found.

Virginia teen gets 11 years for ISIS support on Twitter

   17-year-old Ali Shukri Amin from Virginia will spend the next 11 years and 4 months in a federal penitentiary for his role in running the powerful pro-ISIS Twitter account, @Amreekiwitness. This account collected and disseminated ISIS propaganda to more than 4,000 followers and shared instructions for using Bitcoin to secretly fund the terrorist organization. Amin also admitted to helping one of the account’s followers to travel to Syria and join the group. That follower has since been arrested and is facing federal prosecution as well on a conspiracy to provide material support to terrorism charge.

China has cut its holdings of U.S. Treasuries this month to raise dollars needed to support the yuan in the wake of a shock devaluation two weeks ago, according to people familiar with the matter.

Channels for such transactions include China selling directly, as well as through agents in Belgium and Switzerland, said one of the people, who declined to be identified as the information isn’t public. China has communicated with U.S. authorities about the sales, said another person. They didn’t reveal the size of the disposals.

The People’s Bank of China has been offloading dollars and buying yuan to support the exchange rate, a policy that’s contributed to a $315 billion drop in its foreign-exchange reserves over the last 12 months. The $3.65 trillion stockpile will fall by some $40 billion a month in the remainder of 2015 because of the intervention, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey.

China selling Treasuries is “not a surprise, but possibly something which people haven’t fully priced in,” said Owen Callan, a Dublin-based fixed-income strategist at Cantor Fitzgerald LP. “It would change the outlook on Treasuries quite a bit if you started to price in a fairly large liquidation of their reserves over the next six months or so as they manage the yuan to whatever level they have in mind.”
