Giuliani: Black Lives Matter Movement ‘Inherently Racist,’ ‘Anti-American’

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani called the Black Lives Matter movement racist and anti-American.

In an interview with CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Giuliani said the movement is “inherently racist.”

“They sing rap songs about killing police officers and they talk about killing police officers and yell it out at their rallies. And when you say black lives matter, that’s inherently racist,” the former New York City mayor said. “Black lives matter, white lives matter, Asian lives matter, Hispanic lives matter – that’s anti-American and it’s racist.”

Giuliani pointed a finger at the media for paying more attention to fatal police shootings of black men than when a black child gets killed in Chicago.

“Of course black lives matter, and they matter greatly, but when you focus in on the 1 percent of less than 1 percent of the murder that’s going on in America, and you make it a national thing and all of you in the media make it much bigger than the black kid who’s getting killed in Chicago every 14 hours, you create a disproportion,” Giuliani told “Face the Nation.” The police understand it and it puts a target on their back. Every cop in America will tell you that if you ask him.”

A US government agency is scolding people on Twitter for texting and driving

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is the federal body tasked with automotive safety, as its name implies — and sometimes, you just have to take your message straight to the people.

If you look at NHTSA’s Twitter feed right now, you’ll find that it’s just a non-stop stream of burns aimed at people who admit — sometimes gleefully — that they text and drive

For what it’s worth, NHTSA is right: countless studies have linked texting in the driver’s seat with higher accident rates, and Werner Herzog himself has made a film about it.

As federal social media campaigns go, this is pretty clever. Getting shamed online by a government agency is far harsher than getting shamed by a friend — but it’s still a lot better than getting killed over an email.

Soros Board Member Chairs Firm Running Online Voting for Tuesday’s Utah Caucuses

The chairman of Smartmatic’s board, Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, currently serves on the board of George Soros’s Open Society Foundation and has close ties to the billionaire.

The Wall Street Journal dubbed the Republican party’s online adventure on Tuesday as “one of the biggest online votes conducted so far in the U.S.” and the “largest experiment with online presidential voting since 2004, when Michigan allowed Democrats to vote in a party caucus via the Internet.”

Utah residents will have the option of casting ballots in the Republican presidential contest using computers, tablets, and smartphones next week. …

Online “polls” will be open between 7:00 a.m. and 11 p.m. on March 22. Voters will get a receipt that will verify that their vote was recorded correctly. The state party declined to release the number of online voter registrations that it has received. …

“We expect all the jurisdictions across the U.S. to take notice and to look at this experience as something to study and, hopefully, follow,” said Antonio Mugica, founder and chief executive of Smartmatic Group, an election-equipment vendor that is running the Utah election.

Some Republican Donors Against Trump Express Resignation After Romp

Donald Trump didn’t land the knockout blow he sought Tuesday, but his wins in Florida and two other states’ contests left some big Republican donors ready to throw in the towel.

Trump’s only setback of the night was in Ohio, where Governor John Kasich took first prize. (Missouri remains too close to call, according to the Associated Press.) But with no clear path to the nomination—there are fewer delegates up for grabs than he would need to clinch it—Kasich’s win struck some donors as too little too late to stop Trump.

“I think he’s pretty much got the nomination locked up,” said Louis Sola, the founder of luxury yacht dealer Evermarine, who backed Jeb Bush and then Marco Rubio. While he said he thinks highly of Trump’s rival Ted Cruz, Sola said he’s unlikely to back him because he doesn’t believe Trump can be stopped. “I think we’re going to sit on the sidelines for a while,” he said.

Wealthy Republican donors looking for a more mainstream nominee have stepped up efforts in recent weeks to block Trump’s ascendancy. They flooded Florida with ads attacking the billionaire and failed to significantly dent his popularity. As a result, many donors, including Sola, are shifting their focus to Senate races where Republican candidates could be negatively affected by a Trump nomination.

Take Art Pope, a deep-pocketed donor who’s made a mark on North Carolina politics. Pope said in an interview that he’s a delegate for Rubio, who dropped out of the race after losing to Trump in his home state Tuesday, and will go to the Republican convention uncommitted.

“I’m not making a decision about who I’m supporting now,” Pope said. “Regardless of who the nominee for president is, I will very much focus my efforts on legislative races.”

TRUMP TO BLACK LIVES MATTER PROTESTERS: ‘ALL. LIVES. MATTER.

 

The billionaire GOP presidential frontrunner stood silent on stage for several moments at a rally at Radford University in Virginia, after anti-Trump protesters began shouting the slogan and proceeded to be removed from the venue.

“All right, folks. You’re gonna hear this. You’re gonna hear it once,” Trump said, before enunciating, “All. Lives. Matter,” at which point the audience in attendance exploded in applause.

The real estate mogul had previously expressed the sentiment earlier this month in Madison, Alabama, where he made it clear that he supported all Americans, regardless of race, color or creed.

Over the last year, following a wave of protests over officer-involved killings of black Americans, LRAD has seen an uptick in inquiries from police departments around the country.
