AT&T: $49.8M used to expand broadband in rural Mississippi

CenturyLink-to-Bring-Broadband CenturyLink has accepted more than a half-billion dollars in federal funds to extend broadband connections to 2.3 million rural customers over the next five years, the FCC said today. In late 2011, the FCC modernized the program to support networks capable of providing broadband and voice services, and created the Connect America Fund to efficiently and effectively administer that support to expand broadband in rural areas where market forces alone can’t support expansion.
