PC: The Justice Department announced a plan to throw $1.75 million at young criminals in hopes that they don’t become adult criminals. But you’d never know that given the linguistic fog the DOJ has conjured up.

A press release issued earlier this week describes a new $1.75 million grant program as designed “to help young people involved in the justice system find jobs and housing.”

Wait, you ask, if these young people are “involved” in the justice system, doesn’t that mean they already have jobs? Like, say, as a trainee in the dispatcher’s office, or a desk clerk in the attorney general’s office, or maybe a janitor at the local courthouse?

Not exactly. In this case, “justice-involved youth” is what we’re now supposed to call juvenile delinquents, also known as young criminals.

Boston bomber’s application for US citizenship raises new questions

Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev passed the US citizenship test just a few months before he helped carry out the Boston Marathon bombings that killed thee people and injured over 260, according to heavily redacted Department of Homeland Security documents obtained by the Boston Globe.

The documents, released to the Globe under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal that Mr. Tsarnaev, passed the test with only one incorrect answer, and that he also swore his allegiance to the United States and denied any links to terrorism.

Tsarnaev was killed in a firefight with law enforcement days after the April 15, 2013 bombings. He carried out the attacks, which killed three people and injured over 260, with his younger brother Dzhokhar. The younger Tsarnaev was arrested on April 19, and was sentenced to death last May.

Teen’s father: Family will ‘keep fighting’ for justice after fatal shooting

 After seeing for the first time Tuesday a graphic video of his son being shot to death by a Seneca police officer yelling, “I’m gonna shoot your f—ing a–,” Paul Hammond said his family plans to “keep fighting” for justice for Zachary.

It was a video that law enforcement and judicial authorities had refused to release for three months, and which 10th Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams admitted Tuesday is “troublesome” and “demands answers.”

However, after reviewing the dash cam footage in slow motion and frame by frame, she decided not to file criminal charges against Lt. Mark Tiller, concluding that he was justified in firing on the unarmed 19-year-old to protect himself and others from being run over by Hammond’s car.

German justice minister takes aim at Facebook over racist posts

Germany’s justice minister has accused Facebook of doing too little to thwart racist posts and hate comments on the social media platform and has proposed a meeting next month in Berlin with top officials from the company in Europe.

In a letter to Facebook public policy director Richard Allan in Dublin obtained by Reuters, Heiko Maas said he had received many complaints from users that their protests on racist posts have been ignored. He suggested a meeting in Berlin on Sept. 14.

“Facebook users are, in particular, complaining increasingly that your company is not effectively stopping racist ‘posts’ and comments despite their pointing out concrete examples,” wrote Maas, a member of the center Social Democrats
