A major international film festival received threatening calls from “high government officials” in Houston warning them not to show the controversial anti-vaccine film that was recently pulled by the Tribeca Film Festival.

Discussing the ultimate decision to pull the film – which presents the case for a link between autism and vaccines – De Niro alongside festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal held firm that he still wanted viewers to see the movie, despite the fact it will no longer run at the festival.
I think the movie is something that people should see. There was a backlash which I haven’t fully explored, and I will, but I didn’t want it to start affecting the festival in ways I couldn’t see.
“But definitely there’s something to that movie, and there’s another movie called Trace Amounts.
“And these movies… There’s a lot of information about things that are happening with the CDC, the pharmaceutical companies… there’s a lot of things that are not said.
“I, as a parent of a child who has autism, am concerned. And I want to know the truth.
“And I’m not anti-vaccine; I want safe vaccines.

“It’s important to show what life is like inside Syria right now. It’s important to document the daily life, the daily shootings,” Matar says. That the conflict dominates the cinema produced is inevitable. “Most of the films revolve in the world of war, whether it’s death, injury or exile, and the effect of war in Syria.”
Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe, directed by former physician Dr. Andrew Wakefield, explores the link between vaccines and autism and alleges a cover-up involving the CDC.
The documentary was set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month. After initially expressing support for the movie, Robert De Niro, one of the festival founders, agreed to drop it after speaking with scientific professionals.

Obama had been scheduled appear at the popular annual interactive celebration in Austin, making him the first sitting president to speak at the gathering, but will not alter his plans to attend the funeral, The Daily Caller reported.
White House officials later confirmed the report. Reagan’s funeral on Friday is by invite-only, and arrangements had been finalized before her death, leading many to believe that Reagan herself declined to invite Obama.
First Lady Michelle will instead attend Reagan’s funeral, before joining her husband at the festival, which drew 80,000 attendees last year. Also in attendance will be Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.
Reagan passed away Sunday at the age of 94 after suffering from congestive heart failure. She had been deteriorating health for many years. Reagan, known as an influential and protective first lady, was perhaps most famous for spearheading the “Just Say No” anti-drug campaign.
