Shocking ‘Congrats Mike Brown’ sign has liberal heads exploding – defiant owner has no regrets


Phil Schmidt, the businessman and owner of Schmidt’s Welding and Machine Shop in Farmer City, Illinois, told The News-Gazette of Champaign that he posted the sign out of disgust with behavior of “peaceful protesters” marking the anniversary in Ferguson.

And with Brown’s behavior before he was shot to death in a confrontation with a cop.

“It is what it is — all these people in Ferguson going crazy over a guy that broke the law three times that day, tried to kill a cop, tried to get his gun, it’s crazy,” Schmidt said in an interview with the News-Gazette last week.

“What they’re doing to cops makes me sick.”

The sign was up only two days – Schmidt pulled it down on Wednesday – but it still got plenty of attention.

Scores arrested in day of disobedience; county declares state of emergency after Ferguson violence

After a Sunday night marked by violence in Ferguson,  Monday brought with it an emergency declaration in St. Louis County, dozens arrested at a protest at the federal courthouse, comments from U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and a temporary shut-down of Interstate 70. Monday night, some were arrested in Ferguson but there was no gunfire or property damage.

Just one day after demonstrators marked the one-year anniversary of the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Mike Brown by then-officer Darren Wilson, St. Louis County – which includes the town of Ferguson, Missouri – is once again under a state of emergency.  News of the order broke shortly after gunfire night and the arrests Monday several high-profile activists were arrested during a civil disobedience action outside of the St. Louis office of the Department of Justice.
