TRUMP SUPPORTERS THINK MICROSOFT HELPED RUBIO CHEAT IN IOWA

For many, Rubio’s far better than expected performance was more noteworthy than Ted Cruz’ triumph, leading to suspicions about vote tampering.

“Polling indicated Rubio would be a distant third, trailing by perhaps double digits in the socially conservative state — an afterthought behind the two candidates expected to duke it out for first: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Donald Trump,” reported the Washington Post.

However, soon after Rubio captured 23 per cent of the vote, just one per cent behind Trump, the hashtag #MicrosoftRubioFraud began trending on Twitter, with some Trump supporters adamant that Microsoft, who helped tally the votes via their own app, had been involved in foul play.

Noting that Microsoft is Rubio’s number two campaign contributor, one meme asked the question, “Nice of them to count the votes, wasn’t it?”

Microsoft’s Bing just called the first four primaries for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton

In March, Microsoft said it would use its Bing technology to predict the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. On Tuesday, Microsoft jumped in with both feet, calling the first four Republican primaries for Donald Trump.

Microsoft’s Bing predicts that Trump will win the Republican primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada relatively easily, topping Ted Cruz in all four states. Hillary Clinton is expected to win three out of the first four Democratic primaries—Iowa, South Carolina, and Nevada—losing New Hampshire to Bernie Sanders.

Microsoft said it used data from polls, prediction markets, and anonymized and aggregated search-engine queries to predict its results—some of the methods that it’s used to predict the outcomes of everything from “American Idol” to the World Cup. It isn’t always right: Bing never predicted the Denver Broncos to play the New England Patriots in the NFL playoffs, let alone beat the New England Patriots—Bing’s erroneous pick to win the Super Bowl.

Sanders camp suspicious of Microsoft’s influence in Iowa Caucus

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Sanders speaks to supporters during a campaign rally in St. Paul

The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is raising questions about the involvement of Microsoft in the Iowa Caucuses, now just five days away, and has built a independent system to check the official results.

For the first time this year, Microsoft partnered with the Iowa Democratic and Republican Parties to provide a technology platform with which the parties will run their caucuses. The software giant created separate mobile apps for each party, which officials at hundreds of caucuses across the state will use to report out results from individual precincts to party headquarters for tabulation.

Windows 10 Installed on 200 Million PCs [Update]

If the independent data is accurate, then it would suggest that Windows 10 is now the active operating system on about eleven percent of all Windows devices. However, according to PC World, the growth of the operating system has been in slight decline since September.

The apparent milestone was reached some five months since Windows 10’s global launch. Those who run PCs on older Windows OSes can upgrade for free until July 2016. The last time a Microsoft representative offered guidance on Windows 10 install numbers was in October, when Terry Myerson (executive VP of Windows and Devices) said the OS had been installed on 110 million devices. Two months prior to this, the official install number was 75 million devices.

RECENTLY BOUGHT A WINDOWS COMPUTER? MICROSOFT PROBABLY HAS YOUR ENCRYPTION KEY

2015-12-16-1_small_1439

ONE OF THE EXCELLENT FEATURES of new Windows devices is thatdisk encryption is built-in and turned on by default, protecting your data in case your device is lost or stolen. But what is less well-known is that, if you are like most users and login to Windows 10 using your Microsoft account, your computer automatically uploaded a copy of your recovery key — which can be used to unlock your encrypted disk — to Microsoft’s servers, probably without your knowledge and without an option to opt out.
