In his promotional, “I Believe,” the never-gun-shy Simmons lays out some of his positions.

His last statement is the most notable: “I believe billionaires should pay for their own [expletive] stadiums.”

Michigan has a bad track record in this area. State and local taxpayers have coughed up huge for stadiums for the Lions in Pontiac (and then back to Detroit), for the Tigers at Comerica, and most recently for the Red Wings’ new arena. (Well-deserved praise is due for Bill Davidson, who owned the Pistons in 1988 and financed the Palace of Auburn Hills with no tax dollars).

As with the slow-motion releases of Hillary Clinton’s emails, the idea of bureaucratic stalling, of course, is that the details become “old” news more likely to be ignored by media. Fortunately, we’re not on vacation this week, so we can help the president out. Here goes:

The new expense reports, heavily-redacted allegedly for security reasons, push the total known costs for vacations during Obama’s reign to nearly $71 million — with another full year to go. That’s about $10.1 million per year in known expenses.

After discovering “alarming” instances of billing inconsistencies, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin ordered health care officials to block all state funding for the two Planned Parenthood clinics located in Oklahoma.

“More than one in every seven bills submitted for payment [by Planned Parenthood] … are inaccurately coded or insufficiently documented,” Fallin wrote Wednesday in a letter addressed to Oklahoma Health Care Authority Director Nico Gomez. “These results are alarming.”

More than one in every seven bills submitted for payment [by Planned Parenthood] … are inaccurately coded or insufficiently documented,” Fallin wrote Wednesday in a letter addressed to Oklahoma Health Care Authority Director Nico Gomez. “These results are alarming.”

Fallin was referring to high error rates found in a Program and Integrity Review of Payments for the two Planned Parenthood affiliates operating in Oklahoma. One review found “a 20.3 percent error rate” and another discovered a “14.1 percent error rate.”

 The government awarded a $133 million contract for identity protection services for 21.5 million employees on Tuesday. However, NextGov reports that the “true cost of the contract will actually be well more than double that amount—about $330 million.”
