Petula Dvorak is a columnist for the Washington Post “who writes about homeless shelters, gun control, high heels, high school choirs, the politics of parenting, jails, abortion clinics, mayors, modern families, strip clubs and gas prices, among other things.” We don’t need to know that.
Ms. Dvorak apparently did man-and-woman-on-the-street interviews in downtown Washington on a hot July afternoon. All the women she spoke to in this unofficial poll complained about the icy temperatures in their offices; the men weren’t bothered.
Dvorak’s conclusion: this is “the gender divide, thermostat edition.” Women dressed for the season are freezing to death in their offices, while the men, as Dvorak puts it in a run-on sentence, were “stalwart in their business armor, manipulating their environment for their own comfort, heaven forbid they make any adjustments in what they wear.”
