TOM BRADY: COCA-COLA “POISON FOR KIDS”

101915bradycoke (2) You probably go out and drink Coca-Cola and think, ‘Oh yeah, that’s no problem,’” he said on the Dennis & Callahan Morning Show. “Why, because they pay lots of money for advertisements that think that you should drink Coca-Cola for a living?”

“No, I totally disagree with that and when people do that, I think that’s quackery, and just the fact that they can sell that to kids? That’s poison for kids.”

Regular coke does contains high-fructose corn syrup, which has been linked to a variety of health problems including high blood pressure and obesity.

The Coca-Cola Co has bankrolled researchers to promote a new mantra of staying healthy — exercise more and worry less about dropping calories, according to a New York Times report published Sunday. Last year, the 129-year-old company provided as much as $1.5 million to the Global Energy Balance Network (GEBN) for its launch, and encouraged scientists to endorse the idea of working out more instead of shunning soda and fast food as a means to staying healthy, the report added.

Over time, various studies have blamed sugary drinks for ailments like obesity and diabetes around the world. A study published in the June edition of the journal Circulation said that more than 180,000 people die every year worldwide due to the consumption of sugar-packed beverages. Of these 25,000 deaths are recorded in the U.S. However, Coco-Cola is funding researchers who say people should focus more on concepts like energy balance, which refers to the amount of calorie intake versus the energy the body uses for breathing, pumping blood, daily activities and thinking, according to the Times.

Bottles of Coca-Cola are seen at the Safeway store in Wheaton Maryland

Three European bottlers of Coca-Cola (KO.N) drinks have agreed to merge in what will be one of the continent’s largest consumer products deals ever, as they hope greater scale and cost cutting will revitalize sluggish soft drink sales.

Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE.N) said on Thursday it would combine with Coca-Cola Iberian Partners (CCIP) and the German bottling business of Coca-Cola to create a new company that will be the world’s largest independent bottler of Coke drinks by net revenue, with business in 13 countries including Spain, France and Britain.

What is killing Diet Coke

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/cocacola-results-who-killed-diet-coke-10411282.html

Coca-Cola said that global sales of Diet Coke fell 7% on the same quarter last year

Euromonitor noted in 2013 that “as consumer awareness of the risks of a high sugar diet has grown, the sugar content of regular Coca-Cola could hinder the company as the consumer agenda increasingly switches to looking for healthier food and drink options”.

Sandy Douglas, president of Coca-Cola North America, said that declining Diet Coke sales are linked to the trend for fresh food and drink.

“It’s a good dietary change, actually, for the country. But the impact on categories, and particularly categories that are appealing to diet-oriented positions, has been pretty negative,” he said, according to AP.
