Carrying baby dolls and chanting “Black babies matter!”, “His name is Ethan!” and “No justice, no peace!”,  about 50 protesters descended on the St. Louis City Police Headquarters Monday evening.

They were there to voice their anger over an alleged incident that took place Sunday night in South City.

The Reverend Melissa Bennett was not in the car, but is a member of the family that was pulled over. She says they were pulled over for no reason other than possible eye contact with a passing officer.

The two white officers pulled over the vehicle at a Family Dollar store at Chippewa and Jefferson. The officers approached with guns drawn, according to Bennett.

“They verbally assaulted the two-year-old as well as pointing guns at the two-year-old and a five-month-old girl that was in the car,” she claims.

Sylvia Woods also was not in the car at the time, but says her 2-year-old grandson Ethan remains extremely frightened and troubled by the incident.

“This officer told my grandson, two-years-old, ‘shut up, sit back and be quiet’, sir,” Woods says. “He’s not understanding any of this. ‘What did I do grandmama? A gun!’.”
