Lockdown lifted at Vermont state building after two hours

A state office building in Vermont in under lockdown in the city of Newport, officials said.

An email alert was sent to municipal employees at the Emory Hebard State Office Building on Main Street around 9 a.m. The building houses the state’s Motor Vehicles Department and Department of Children and Families.

Police in Newport are still telling the public to stay away from the state office building under lockdown, but say anyone inside of it can resume normal business.
