The behavior of some Muslim members of Sweden’s Green Party, which is part of a coalition government since 2014, has sparked concerns that the small environmentalist group may have been infiltrated by Islamists.

It also has triggered a wider discussion about whether Sweden has tried so hard to be inclusive and tolerant toward migrants that it’s failed to stand up for its own feminist ideals.

“In our eagerness to embrace a diverse and multicultural society, we have turned a blind eye to undemocratic views,” said Gulan Avci, a Stockholm city councilwoman for the Liberals, a center-right opposition party.

Green Party leaders said Monday there’s no evidence of Islamists influencing party policies, but admitted the party needs a “reset” with greater focus on environmental issues.

Ostersund, Sweden, cancelled its annual “Earth Hour” celebration this year. All the lights in the city are turned off during the one-hour event to symbolize the “green” goal of being 100% fossil fuel free.

The city cancelled the event this year because it has been inundated with Muslim migrants and has experienced an epidemic of rapes and sexual assaults. Some victims have been as young as 10 years old. As a result, residents of Ostersund are now afraid of the dark.

Here’s a thought: Instead of fretting about becoming fossil fuel free, how about becoming barbarian free and limiting the number of radical Islamists coming into your nation?

Fight at Swedish refugee center leaves 2 injured, police puzzled due to language barrier

The two men were attacked with a knife-like object following an argument that took place at the Arena Hotel in Halmstad, southern Sweden.

According to the police, the injuries the pair sustained were not serious. Officers believe that two different factions clashed at the center, although police found it difficult to question the witnesses due to language problems.

“It’s a bit difficult because they don’t speak English or any other language but their own,” police control room officer Johan Johansson told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Woman stabbed to death in Swedish refugee facility

“The woman who was taken to Sahlgrenska Hospital this morning died because of the injuries she received in connection with the altercation, relatives are informed,” police spokesman Christer Fuxborg said, as quoted by Aftonbladet newspaper.

A preliminary investigation has been launched, police said. The event will be classified either as murder or manslaughter, depending on the suspect’s intentions.

One of the officers described what had happened in a police report obtained by the Vestmanlands Läns Tidning newspaper.

“Even more people appeared behind us. I was mentally prepared to fight for my life. We were 10 police officers in a narrow corridor. And I hear someone yell that there is an emergency exit,” the officer said.

The incident took place in the Signalisten asylum in Västerås last Wednesday but police didn’t provide any information to the press until Monday this week.

Immigration surge pushes up Swedish unemployment

Sweden accepted a record 163,000 refugees last year, including almost 80,000 in October and November.

The country expected to see unemployment drop to 6.6 percent by 2017 from 7.5 percent in 2015. However, it is expected to grow again and reach 7.5 percent by 2020. The lowest unemployment level in the EU is now in Germany with 4.5 percent.

Bloomberg quotes a study from the National Audit Office, which showed that only 53 percent of asylum seekers who arrived in 2003 had found jobs by 2013.

“Unemployment is falling quite well for those born in Sweden, who can take advantage of the improvement, but it takes longer for those born abroad, especially those born outside of Europe,” said Wadman.
