BERNIE CHALLENGES TRUMP TO DEBATE

Here’s the question from Bernie: ‘Hillary Clinton backed out of an agreement to debate me in California before the June 7th primary. Are you prepared to debate the major issues facing our largest state and the country before the California primary. Yes or No,’ He wants to know if you will debate him,” Kimmel said.

“Yes I will,” Trump answered. “How much will he pay me?” the GOP nominee said, seemingly serious, elaborating that any money made from such a high profile event would be donated to a worthy cause.

“If we paid a nice sum toward a charity, I would love to do that.”

“Game on,” the Bernie camp enthusiastically responded within moments of the hotel mogul’s statements.

“I hope Secretary Clinton reconsiders her unfortunate decision to back away from her commitment to debate,” Sanders added.

The Vermont senator also said that Clinton shouldn’t be so presumptive about the status as the Democratic, noting his string of recent victories in the states of West Virginia, Indiana and Oregon.

During a rally at a high school in Santa Monica, California, Sanders said that Clinton refusing to debate was a snub to the people of California.

“I think it’s a little insulting to the people of California – the largest state,” Sanders said at a rally in Santa Monica, California.“She is not prepared to have a discussion with me about how she is going to help California address the major crises we face.”

“I also would suggest that Secretary Clinton may want to be not quite so presumptuous about thinking that she is a certain winner,” Sanders added, noting his victories in several recent primaries.

FBI PAID MORE THAN $1 MILLION TO HACK SAN BERNARDINO IPHONE

Speaking at the Aspen Security Forum in London, FBI Director James Comey didn’t cite a precise figure for how much the government paid for the solution to cracking the phone but said it was more than his salary for the seven-plus years remaining in his term at the FBI.

The debate between privacy and national security has never been more heated, with Apple and other tech firms going up against the government. So how are text messages encrypted, and what are the controversial “backdoors” that could allow access to them?

His annual salary is about $180,000 a year, so that comes to $1.26 million or more.

CLINTON: AFTER BRUSSELS ATTACK GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO TAKE A “HARDER LOOK” AT ENCRYPTION

She said the Brussels attack that killed more than 30 people is the “latest brutal reminder” that more must be done to defeat Islamic State militants.

So far it has not been determined if the suspected terrorists in Brussels used encrypted devices to plan or communicate during the attacks.

“We do not know yet what role, if any, encrypted communications played in these attacks,” Rep. Adam Schiff(D-Calif.) said in a statement. “But we can be sure that terrorists will continue to use what they perceive to be the most secure means to plot their attacks,”

In December during a debate with rival Bernie SandersClinton characterized encryption as a “terrorist tool used in the Paris attacks.” She said the US should launch a “Manhattan-like project” to “bring the government and tech communities together” so that law enforcement can “prevent attacks.”

In February House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, and Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia introduced a bill calling for a committee to examine encryption. Warner said the committee will be based on the 9/11 commission.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said a congressional committee on encryption should make recommendations within 90 days.

“It could set the table for congressional action but also for the next administration,” said Warner. ” We want to maintain American innovation, but we also need to maintain American security. Encryption is part of the fabric of American security. We also need to have ways we can go after criminals and terrorists.”

McCaul said apps like Telegram and Wire that provide end-to-end encryption pose a challenge to law enforcement. He said encrypted private communications is “probably the biggest challenge to law enforcement I have seen in my lifetime.”

Apple, FBI stake out competing sides in encryption debate

Apple Encryption

The high-stakes legal fight between Apple Inc. and the Justice Department over a locked iPhone is moving from the courts to Congress.

FBI Director James Comey and Apple chief lawyer Bruce Sewell are appearing before the House Judiciary Committee for a hearing on encryption Tuesday afternoon.

The hearing comes amid two significant and conflicting court rulings in New York and California on whether Apple can be forced to help the FBI gain access to locked phones.

Comey warns in his prepared testimony that technological advancements have been accompanied by “new dangers.” He says those can prevent law enforcement from collecting critical evidence in criminal and terrorism investigations.

VIDEO: RAND PAUL MAKES TRUMP LOOK FOOLISH

Paul_Screenshot If you take a look at how they (China) take advantage, it’s through currency manipulation. It’s not even discussed in the almost 6,000 page agreement,” Trump said.

“Hey, Gerard, you know, we might want to point out China is not part of this deal.” Paul interjected, addressing the Fox News host.

The Libertarian leaning candidate’s fact check drew applause from the crowd, who would have otherwise swallowed Trump’s rhetoric without question.

The moderators were also not forthcoming with actual facts on the subject, until Paul pointed out Trump’s omission.
